Privacy Policy

cuboo (“cuboo”, “we”, “us”) is built privacy-first. Your focus sessions live on your device, and we collect as little as possible. This policy explains what we handle and why.

The short version: Your journeys and stats live on your iPhone first and sync securely to your account when you sign in. We never see which apps you block. We don’t sell your data or use it for advertising.

1. Information we collect

cuboo uses an account to authenticate you, keep your journeys tied to you, and sync your progress across devices. Most focus and Screen Time data stays on your device. Depending on how you use the app, the following may be collected:

Information you create in the app

Your focus sessions, train journeys, chosen capitals, collected stamps, and statistics. This is stored locally on your device, and a copy may be securely stored in our cloud so it’s available across your devices when you are signed in.

Account information

When you sign in, we process the email address associated with your account so we can authenticate you and sync your journeys. If you use Sign in with Apple, Apple may provide an email relay address and, on first authorization, a name. If you choose to add or edit a display name in cuboo, we store it with your account. Authentication is handled by our backend provider (Supabase).

Purchases

Subscriptions and purchases are processed by Apple. We don’t receive or store your payment card details. We do receive your subscription status (for example, whether Cuboo Pro is active) through Apple’s StoreKit and our subscription tooling so we can unlock the right features.

Approximate location (optional)

If you grant location access, cuboo may use your approximate location solely to show local weather and ambiance on the home screen. This is sent to our weather provider (Open-Meteo) to fetch conditions and is not stored or used to identify you. If you don’t grant access, cuboo still works fully.

Diagnostics & analytics

We may collect limited usage and performance information — for example, app crashes and how you interact with our paywall (which screen you saw, which plan you selected, whether you started a purchase), along with a device identifier (not the advertising identifier) — to keep the app reliable and improve it. Our paywall analytics are processed by our analytics provider, Superwall. This information is not used to track you across other apps or websites.

2. How we use your information

To provide the core app — running focus sessions, saving journeys, and awarding stamps.
To sync your data across your devices when you are signed in.
To unlock and manage your Cuboo Pro subscription.
To show optional local weather/ambiance, if you enable location.
To diagnose problems, prevent abuse, and improve the app.

We do not sell your personal data, and we do not use it for third-party advertising.

3. App blocking & Screen Time

cuboo can block distracting apps during a focus session using Apple’s Screen Time / Family Controls framework. Your app selections and usage are managed by the operating system on your device. cuboo does not receive, transmit, or store the list of apps you block or your detailed Screen Time data — it stays private to your device under Apple’s control.

We share information only with service providers that help us run cuboo, and only as needed:

Apple — app distribution, in-app purchases, and Screen Time. See Apple’s Privacy Policy.
Supabase — secure authentication and cloud storage for your synced journeys.
Open-Meteo — weather data, using approximate location only if you enable it.
Superwall (Nest 22, Inc.) — paywall analytics, to measure how our paywall performs and improve it. See Superwall’s Privacy Policy.

We may also disclose information if required by law, or to protect the rights, safety, and security of our users and our service.

5. Data retention & deletion

Data stored on your device remains until you delete it or remove the app. Synced account data is kept until you delete your account or ask us to remove it.

To delete your account and associated cloud data, use the in-app Delete account option from Settings or from the paywall account controls. You can also contact us at cubooapp@gmail.com and we’ll process your request. You can delete local data at any time by removing the app from your device.

6. Your rights

Depending on where you live (for example, under the EU/UK GDPR or California’s CCPA), you may have the right to access, correct, export, or delete your personal data, and to object to or restrict certain processing. To exercise these rights, contact us at cubooapp@gmail.com. We will respond within the time required by applicable law.

7. Security

We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your data, including transport encryption and access controls on synced data (each account can only access its own records). No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, but we work to protect your information.

8. Children

cuboo is not directed to children under 13 (or the equivalent minimum age in your country), and we do not knowingly collect personal data from them. If you believe a child has provided us personal data, contact us and we’ll delete it.

9. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. We’ll revise the “Last updated” date above, and significant changes will be reflected here. Continued use of cuboo after an update means you accept the revised policy.
